A major draw to Colorado, besides the incredible skiing and boarding opportunities and the endless outdoor recreation options are hot springs. The natural hot springs that consume Colorado’s landscape quickly become everyone’s favorite way to relax once they indulge on this experience. After exerting yourself hiking Steamboat’s beautiful trails, or bouncing around on a mountain bike on the rocky terrain, soaking in the hot springs in and around Steamboat is the best way to unwind.
Hot springs range from 100 to 110 degrees in temperature. The water is naturally heated through its contact with the earth’s crust. Luckily in Steamboat, you have the option of staying at a hot springs resort instead of hiking to find a natural one on your own. There are so many different types of resorts that fit a variety of needs depending on what you’re looking for. Below are Steamboat’s favorite hot springs.
Old Town Hot Springs
With eight different pools that are each different, you are bound to find a pool you can enjoy. The Heart Spring is the all-natural hot spring that is the source to all of the pools at Old Town. The Heart Spring is full of all-natural minerals and is not chlorinated. There is also no need as the water in the pool completely recycles every 15 minutes. The lithium and sulfate minerals are known for their relaxing properties and will definitely help you relax after a long day of exploring Steamboat.
At Old Town, there is a main hot pool, a waterfall hot pool, kiddie pool and waterslide pool. These are a few of the eight options you will find during your hot springs experience.
Strawberry Hot Springs
Known as one of the best mineral hot springs in the United States, Strawberry Hot springs provides the ultimate setting and soak for those needing to truly unwind. On top of soaking in one of the pools, massages are offered in a private setting. Make a day out of it and bring a picnic to enjoy in the picnic areas. If you’d like to stay and make a long weekend out of your visit, there are multiple lodging options as well as campsites to setup your own tent.
